I'm not aware I'd ever heard of him, but wow that's very nice.

Following up on that I found that Amazon have a digital only album 'Soulfood with the Chapman Stick' with some of the same name tracks. I've not checked if they seem to be the same cuts (I'm still listening to the video you posted)

Daniel is fantastic! Not sure what he's doing these days. Way back around the time this tape was made, he was somewhat of a fixture on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. I can't tell you how many people I ran across whose first exposure to the Stick was seeing Daniel in SF. He had a CD that was available for a while titled "On The Street Where You Live" that was wonderful. It went out of print quite some time back. I recall Yuta telling me ... oh ... maybe around 10 or 15 years ago that she'd talked to him for the first time in years and he had no idea that CD was in such high demand. There were mumblings of re-pressing but it never happened.

FYI ... that Amazon album is the exact track listing from the CD I mentioned.

So there you go.

Yeah this guy was one of the originals up in the Bay area. I had a few friends come back with cassettes of his music. Lots of bends, lots of blues and plenty of soul.

I really look up to Dan as a Stick player, his playing sounds so natural and unpretentious; really soulful and laid back music.
I'm so used to Stick music sounding cold and calculated but Dan just lights it up!
