Post Frank Jolliffe.
I recently got a couple of records of Frank Jolliffe; awsome player! Does somebody knows how to get his "Solo Stick" album?

Cheers, Daniel.

Post Re: Frank Jolliffe.
I listened to a copy of one of his cd some years ago, Live at Comcast I think. Nice swingin' jazz player, with a real knowledge of this kind of music. I e-mailed him to purchase the cds he recorded, but got no response. I've been said that he had some heavy health problems a few years back...
I think Live at Comcast was recorded with a Warr Guitar (the whole tone didn't sound like a Stick). I'd really like to listen what he did with the Stick and its particular and distinctive tone.
Anyone wants to part with his copy? :)

Bruno, I think you're right about "Live at comcast" being played with a warr. I was comparing the tone with another Jolliffe CD (another live but this time in Brussels with Pierre Van Dormael in guitar) and the sound is different...
If someone has a link for me to get the "Solo Stick" CD, please give me a shout.

Cheers, Daniel.

A few years back I tried contacting Frank about something on his website - and I eventually got a response from him that he was no longer playing due to health problems. I tried to get a couple lessons with him but he said he had not played in quite a while and really didn't want to get back into it.

It was too bad because he had gone back to college in the next town over from me and it would have been so convienient... :( I just hope that all of the medical problems have worked out ok for him.

I've not heard any of his music.

Dave

Well it seems that Frank plays the Stick in this CD if you believe the picture in the cover... But I agree with Bruno the tone is a little bit darker, maybe just the right EQ to get a more classic jazzy sound.

Cheers, Daniel.
