For various reasons, inspiration has not been coming to me. Despite new "toys", and a new Stick in it's completion stages, I couldn't bring myself to pick up that awsome instrument staring at me every day. Yesterday I went to the Stickist site and checked out "Stick NYC", the review of a seminar last year. In the "Reflections" part, Chris Merlo amd Andres Jimenez made some great points on the Sticknite where the students got up and did what we all "ultimately" invested ourselves with- to do what we love, with what we have, at our own level. I went back to my room, and played music. Thank you, guys.

There are times when it just doesn't "grab" you. Sometimes those are the best times to really listen to the music you like for reinforcement, or to seek out a new viewpoint through something unrelated, like reading.

Sometimes those are the best times to just dig in and work on fundamentals. Make the instrument more a part of your mind and body. I find the more I feel like I'm playing the instrument, instead of the other way around, the more inspired I feel.

Inspiration can come from without or within.
