Post Waiting Man - Vid
I remember being blown away by this tune when I saw them play it in 1984. This version of Crimson was a truly amazing band.

Tony is the groove machine (watch the whole thing, some great closeups).

Is this from a commercially available video?

Yep. It is from that DVD. This was shot during the "Beat" tour circa 1982. That was the first time I saw them live and they opened with this tune. That pretty much set the stage for an amazing and very influencial evening.

I was always blown away by A. Belew's playing. To play those VERY odd times while singing amazes me. By the way, check out the song "neil and Jack and me" from that same DVD. Tony has some tuning issues, but keeps going, like the pro he is.

Bruford still blows me away, I've seen him with King Crimson, Earthworks and on the Yes Union tour, what a great player. Thanks for posting this video.

Thanks for this Greg, you have just made my day. For those that dig King Crimson, in that same album (and youtube) there also is a version of the Sheltering Sky (to me, the best tune ever, of all past and future times, I just cry when I listen to it). Before the youtube era, hearing the recorded version of their album Discipline, I had the impression that the symphonic soloing was from Robert Fripp, and when I watched this video (without taking any merit to Master Fripp) I was not only surprised to discover that it was actually Adrian Belew's work but also how large was Tony Levin's part on the whole sound of this amazing group... that Stick is the castle where the King lives, to somewhat put it into words.

Sometimes, looking at these videos, I gather that these guys did not even know or care about how deeply they were influencing some of us... they were (are) just having pure fun. Perhaps is that exact philosophy that help them, working in a group that had reached well past the critical mass of geniality, keep the group together during that period beyond their individual egos.

Long live the King.

The Sheltering Sky was my favorite back then. Maybe still is. I was really into "Sartori in Tangier" as well.

Thanks for the link, Lee. Does anyone know if amazon takes PayPal?
