Wonderfully, it's a big world with still so much music to yet to play and be discovered!

I love Boris' music and his fearlessness to use Emmett's creation to take the ancient Russian epic song tradition into the 22nd century and beyond.

I think we all can agree that the beautiful thing here is that The Stick has allowed each and every of us to get closer to the music we want to make, the music we hope to make, and the magic of all the unheard music yet to be made - regardless (or inclusive) of all styles, genres, cultures and tastes.
:D

Boris takes the blues out for a walk (and slaps them around a bit...)

Boris is at it again. "Out" as in "outrageous"! This time it looks like he's performing on a university stage. His "guzli" (ancient Asian psaltery) is now separated from his Stick and on its own stand (they were fused in his original concept).

I love the thematic II major chord, almost Greek sounding, replacing the sub-dominant as a tension devise from another planet, then back to the funky tonic.

The man, the gestures, the voice, all come to the fore from behind the machine, and we have a genuine and unique performance. And despite all appearances, it's the digits that generate the rhythm and all manner of sonic variation. It's in his fingers (who knew?), each digit parcelled its own role.

It seems every body has its own focal point where the gifts are concentrated. Boris' funky fingers are amazing!

Emmett

When I see his whole hand in action, it reminds me of the tabla and bodhran.

I just noticed he's put an extra damper over the strings at the X fret. I assume this is for his midi pickup, but I was wondering if anyone else had experimented with it.

Yes, Boris told that he encountered mistakeous unwanted sounds via midi pickup, so he had to add extra dampers.
I haven't tried it myself yet, but thought of it (though I don't use midi pickups). I've seen Tony Levin also has extra dampers on the 2nd fret on some of his Sticks.

And another from the same show. Amazing sounds!

and when the board is narrow enough, you can easily access both sets of strings with each hand. This video is a great example of the possibilities this presents. Don't segregate your hands, integrate!

Keep them coming, Boris...
