Post Etap 2012
I just got back from a wonderful week at Etap seminar (21st edition!). This year we had the privilege of having Randy Strom as teacher :) Randy is a mind blowing jazz player, the best jazz tapper I've ever heard, and a really sweet and funny guy (besides being an extremely patient teacher).
A highly recommended experience; I hope I will meet some of you there next year :)

Cheers, Daniel.

Wow, I use to watch Randy's YouTube videos when in need for inspiration. He's got such a great tone!

If you liked his videos, you should see him live OMG!!!! One thing that really surprised me is that he crank up the amp but then he is able to play very softly just playing with the controls of his instrument and an amazing control of the dynamics.
I will check if somebody has a decent video of one of the concerts (I only took pictures), it would be great to have a little bit more of his music on youtube. We didn't have a PA for none of the concerts but they (Randy, Wolfgang Daiss and Kuno Wagner) managed to get a great sound anyway; really inspiring performances.

Cheers, Daniel.

Cranking to play softly is a great trick! I've also been impressed by reggae bass players doing this.
