No, Picchio Dal Pozzo was a band out of Naples, Italy in the 70's. Their first LP was much more akin to British Canterbury prog, and their second was heavily influenced by Zappa and the socialist "RIO" thing. Research "Rock In Opposition". Picchio is by far my favorite. So emotional, so heavily composed and dense. Just a masterpiece to my ears. But no... no relation to the mighty Henry Cow. I think if Henry Cow can be seen as sounding very EVIL, Picchio dal Pozzo surely is the light. Lots of fun and humor in their music. Henry Cow ain't funny at all...

Picchio is still a band from what I understand:

Probably my favorite band of all time.

I have the Richie Nieto album. Absolutely full of stick playing, too!

Funny to hear Fuzzy telling that Pekka Pohjola is so little known in the English speaking parts... I had no idea about that because here in Sweden he has been seen as "God of Bass" ever since 1970! I've heard him so many times in jazz clubs here and he was fantastic! I thought the guy was world famous since he used to play with all those other world famous musicians, but I guess that says more about me than about Pekka Pohjola :-)

Yes, the Cardiacs is a great band!

I sure do love me some BTA! Whenever I show them to someone i always think it's funny to say, "they make a 3 minute song feel like 9 minutes."
What did you think of horrorscension?
