Re: Your favorite melodic bass lines?
Hey Nashorn.
Someone down here recently covered Gabriels' Don't Give Up and just reversed the boy/girl roles in the vocals.
Nothing quite compares to the original, but it was a good version.

Nothing quite compares to the original, but it was a good version. Leslie Feist did the same on the "And I'll scratch yours" collection of Peter Gabriel covers. Not my favorite version either, but I have heard worse versions...

Re: Your favorite melodic bass lines?
It's certainly not my favourite, but should prove to be very interesting on Stick... http://youtu.be/uJg8U0QMXEQ(Muse - Hysteria) Have to learn it for a new cover band and just realised I'm way too slow and clumsy to play it on bass, so I'm going to use Stick, instead. EG

I didn't know that one, but it should work well on Stick.

I always think of "Hold Out Your Hand" when I think of that album. That's another great candidate for this thread. WE ABSOLUTELY CANNOT OVERLOOK JOHN DEACON IN THIS. "Millionaire Waltz" ... "Somebody to Love" ... "Ogre Battle" ... "Dragon Attack" ... "Killer Queen" ...

John Deacon, of course..!
So good. Really a sub genre in his own right, well a significant other. Someone who took the rock roots and gave it a melodic edge.

Re: Your favorite melodic bass lines?
My good friend Bakithi Kumalo played some incredibly vocal- like bass lines on Paul Simon's landmark Graceland recording. Listen to it Nuff said.

Some of the most musical bass playing to ever hit the radio. You know that deep passion in your bones, the way music hit you when you were a teenager. Well my food was this.. how lucky was I. Marcus... a master of melodic bass line features and production.
