Miles was always changing what he did, he was bound to alienate some people. Look at the reviews from when Bitches' Brew came out. "Oh, this isn't Jazz!" or "Miles is selling out to white america" or all this stuff. He wasn't going to please everyone with everything he did. Just the nature of how he worked.
I mean, there's plenty of bands where I like most of their albums and can't stand one or two of them. Doesn't make you any less of a fan, just cause you don't blindly accept everything an artist does just cause you like everything else they may have done previously. They're people. They make mistakes.
