Hi Brett, I checked out the link to the books and think they are interesting. Isee there are different versions based on the instrument one plays. Which one would be suitable for the stick. My guess would be the C, Eb or F version.. Cheers, Bas |

I'm almost sure it's not the answer you'd like to read but...my guitar teacher told me in 1980 "there is no shortcut in music"...that means you have to work on everything you can. If you cannot buy a book, just go to a public Library close to your house and check all of them. Maybe you'll encounter one which is perfect for what you're looking for. That is a good habit...then you'll switch to another one, and another one, etc...If you start one thing at a time and not trying to learn everything in 2 weeks you'll go further without noticing it. You cannot eat a cow in 1 day...Good luck...music a a whole life story...step by step, little by little. This way you'll always be hungry about learning. |

Berklee has some online classes which seem promising: http://online.berklee.edu/courses/music-theory-101 I believe that Coursera.org also has music theory classes periodically. I took the Gary Burton improvisation class at Coursera and found it to be very, very helpful. J. |
