Electric Harp Guitar Group
I'm finding this piece highly inspiring! The open harp strings combined with percussive tapping through tempo synced slap delays is a promising recipe:

On a Stick, especially shorter scaled ones like the SG-12, you can get a bit of a harp like tone by tapping the thinner strings close to the nut. Also, the trick to "play loud but softly" applies.

Re: Electric Harp Guitar Group
Do they know more than one chord? Well done, but not me cup of tea, it's so new age-ish for me, and considering their instruments and how many players are they, it could have been amazing. BTW, thanks for sharing

Re: Electric Harp Guitar Group
Interesting to read your comments! Taste differs indeed. I actually like this because of the the "not so obvious chord vamps" etc, i.e. quite minimal to the form. To me music often becomes boring when it goes too explicit I too think they wear a bit ridiculous clothes and behave in mysterious ways, but I haven't really been thinking about it as "new age". I'm totally lacking any references for guessing what the guy on the left is "trying to look like" when kneeling around in a hat and sun glasses while playing... ha, ha. Comes to me more as some twisted implementation of a bizarre joke - a cartoon character maybe? Anyway, I like that sound and the fact that the music is based on sound, not only harmony and melody, just makes it stand out as a little more exciting to me.

Here's another inspiring example of combining tapped notes with harp strings. Harp strings here faked by a capo (works well on the Stick too).

Re: Electric Harp Guitar Group
Can I go nasty? Well, maybe the difference between the two videos is talent and musicianship Maybe I'm a little biased, because I had the chance to listen to Jan music in a live context, and it was so nice that I'm not objective on this one But Jan is a real musician, whatever instrument he's playing (and it's a shame he doesn't play tapping instruments anymore)

Jan is incredible at every instrument he plays. I can't comprehend it.

This type of music is (for me) a meditation, a mantra, a spiritual experience. It's just different than Donna Lee from Charlie Parker...

Re: Electric Harp Guitar Group
William Eaton is one of the founders of the Roberto Venn Luthier school in Arizona. http://www.roberto-venn.com/rv-faculty/A good friend of mine was one of his students and some of the guitars and or experimental instruments he (William Eaton) has created are nothing less than amazing, check out the link. I just got back fro the Y2K-13 Looping Festival and was really blown away by all the new trends and technology that is happening on the experimental/looping scene. This 'harp guitar trio' would have fit right in... You come away from something like Y2K with a hugely dilated ability to appreciate many different types of music ... `J` ,~
