Last weekend I was the sound guy/roadie for Brian Brody here in Kuwait.
Brian is one of Dublins top solo performers. His gig here at the British Embassy raised a total of £19,057 for charity.
The following day I was over at our freinds place where he was staying as he was really keen to see and hear a Chapman Stick. Needless to say I was a bit concerned about my ability to demo it properly.
We jammed for about two hours. I just did some simple bass lines and melody chords while he played the hard stuff.

In his own words "Dat 'ting is fookin' amazing" ( I did mention he's from Dublin). He also thought I was a hell of a musician....Which just goes to show how far a little Stick skill can take you ( I thought I was crap!). Talk about an ego boost!

In case your wondering what a roadie wears here in the Middle East, check this out.

Eric,
What a great honor and a thrill! Plus you now have status of Worldwide Ambassador of the Stick.

It is the same ceremony that the Wizard of Oz uses when he bestows the medal on The Lion!

Congratulations- you did a great job with all those hats and juggling all the balls in the air at the same time! and you introduced the Stick to someone new who will surely ( don't call me Shirley) talk about it for years to come. Plus it's nice when a seasoned music professional comments on your playing ability- for some reason those seem to hit more home than the drunk at the end of the stage saying '"yoooooor Grrrr (burp)t". :D but those count too!

Again, much kudos and congratulations,
Dave Brosky

where can i get one of those shirts???!!! congrats, Eric, and yeah, when i say "I have no idea what im doing." and your professional musician friends say, "You GET IT", it gives pause to know you're on the right track. p.s. im running into more and more people that when i say i play the Chapman Stick, they say, "Really?" instead of "What's that?" we're gaining headway, gang. Thank you, Emmett.

Glad you had a cool experience Eric. I havent had the pleasure of jamming with anyone yet; would love to play with an acoustic player....

Great to hear Eric, it sounds like you both had a good time.

Performance is the best end goal for any performer. While that sounds silly, I have found it to be true. Even when you have a bad performance, there are positive elements that can be gleaned from it.

In this case, it sounds like you have hit a milestone and you are ready to perform more. We hope you're building on that and are looking forward to more cool pics and possibly video if possible!

kev, my most rewarding experiences playing with others has been with acoustic guitarists. the two instruments blend beautifully. and no ear bleeds. drummers, on the other hand...
