Two handed guitar-centric (ie, SG12 type tuning from what I can tell) tapping. dude has one of the best distortion sounds I've heard on a tapping instrument. Here he is opening for Steve Vai in Caracas, Venezuela. Apparently he designs the guitars and has local luthiers build them: http://www.felixmartin.net/Felix_Martin ... itars.html |

Yes - I've seen YT videos with him before. Very good, indeed! I personally like best what he gets out of playing with the clean sound; the distorted sound doesn't really stand up to that standard with that guitar and the tapping technique. My ears want him to switch to only the neck pickups during the distorto mayhem but he keeps on mud wrestling in the dual pickups swamp - wondering why? Maybe two pickups pick up the tapped tone better with a wider range of frequencies? With the clean sound that guitar sounds fantastic! That "popping" tone is cool on the clean amps setting. |

I agree, his clean tone is excellent! I could listen to that for days. As far as the distortion goes, though, I've always found tapping sounds a bit anemic under heavy distortion, compared to a guitar with heavy picking. This guy is a big exception to that. I think he has a tone that isn't just workable, but actually rather excellent. |
