Having a background in percussion, I'll admit to playing some strange things, amonst them: a balloon, the push broom, and garden weasels.
I saw Blue Man Group recently and they had a Garden Weaselist in the pit orchestra….

on Brand X "Unorthodox Behaviour" Phil Collins is listed as playing cellophane...to good effect. i've been known to start percussion ensembles in restaurant kitchens (i always hired musician/cooks)

I once saw one of my former percussion teachers in a concert where he performed a John Cage piece, playing the cactus, dirt, and leaves.
