Post Doug Johns Digging In…
I'm loving Doug's sound and his style and vocabulary on that Pedulla…particularly the "on-the-pickup" percussive sound ~1:08. Wondering how to translate this to the Stick…

Great player, though. Pure inspiration for me….

"Hey Joe, where you goin with that 10 string Grand Stick in your hand?" i sold my Pedulla 5-string fretless (high C) for a powered loudspeaker and became committed to Stick full-time. still workin on harmonics, false notes, ghost notes, two-handed plucking, slapping, thumbing, capo, duct tape, bow, car doors...with the 10 Grand you should be able to "get in there" with yer r. hand when l. hand fretting. what im sayin is, EXPERIMENT!

Hey Marty! Pedullas are nice; I admire you for letting it go and focusing exclusively on the Stick. I'll bet that it's worth it, though. Regarding all the techniques, I've seen people doing really crazy stuff on the stick on YouTube (tapping, pinching, capos etc.). I'd like to get there one of these days, but I'm still in the conservative early stages of trying to learn where all the notes are.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow, that percussive style sounds great! He is really good at making the notes short and keeping silence between every note/thump. His bass sounds a bit like a heavily muted drum kit :-)
