That's fantastic. I've always been a huge fan of Diabate and Kora in general. It's such a pleasing almost hypnotic sound. I tried to bring one of those things back from Africa many years ago when I was over there on a video project but all the ones I came across in Nigeria were so poorly made they were almost unplayable - more like decorative wall hangings. I was directed to a builder in Timbuktu for the real deal but my stay in Mali was so short and logistically it was just not to be. I'd love to get my hands on one though and give it a try - just as soon as I master Stick of course...... |
