This ostensibly written with fiddle in mind but his core concepts readily transfer to any stringed instrument. http://www.thestrad.com/cpt-latests/rus ... r-playing/

Trés cool! Two exercises stuck in my mind: scales with different fingerings, to enhance sight-reading, and choosing an arbitrary note with different downward scales from that note.

Can't wait to get home!

Hi Captain.

This is great. Practicing scales starting from A in any key is really a great idea, yes?!

I look forward to coming back to this, thanks for sharing.

I'd say it's not only for stringed instruments. I like to "think" my musical phrase "before" playing it...whatever the instrument is. If my mind is not ahead of my fingers the results are not the same. I do this when I read music and when it's time to improvise. I feel more relax and confident when I think this way. I don't know how to explain it in another way though...To be ahead is less freakin than to be late in my way of playing music. Well...I hope it's clear for you guys because it is for me...
