Three new techniques - infinity cubed times the already present infinity of current Stick technique. Makes me feel really old...

That was very inspiring! Wondering if a NS Stick would be well fitted for this kind of playing? (hybrid technique)

Really incredible technique, really. But, I may be too old, or maybe I'm just too uncultured to appreciate the music, but how boring it was!
It seems to me that every song played was built around a technique he invented. Shouldn't be the opposite? (rant off)

Hm... well, I didn't mean to say that the music played was inspiring; I meant that the idea about using such a hybrid technique for playing is inspiring. :-) He clearly stated in the video that they weren't actually playing complete pieces, just short snippets to demonstrate his playing style on that 8-str Ibanez (and that must of course be boring if one tries to digest it "as music")

The demonstrations got me interested in checking out the band to hear it in a musical context. And I found this from last year:

I am listening to the live extract and it's indeed very nice. That makes me feeling even more perplex : I didn't hear any technical skill he developed on the first video
However, he has a beautiful tone with his 8 strings guitar :!:

EDIT : pyrotechnics begins around 6:00 while I was typing my message.

Boring? Well...there is some elements of repetition but this is a high level of technique on the other side. It looks unique to me. It has a huge effect when it's in the middle of a song.

If you read my post, I said that there was a high level technique... It's indeed unique, and he has a wonderful tone. But does it mean that with all those qualities, music is played?
I like music when it makes my laugh, cry, dance or simply hurt. I didn't feel anything hearing this music except that I recognize a huge amount of work behind. But maybe it's just me or am I too insensible :?:
