Post The Stick Community
Hi, everyone.

Is it just me? It seems like the Stick community has been attracting a new generation of people in the last few years who are amazing musicians. New instruments, new people, new techniques, new music, new ideas. The future looks bright.

It's a good time to be a Chapman Stick player.

-Eric

I first heard the Chapman Stick while walking thru a park in Maui a few years ago.
http://michaelkollwitz.com/ was playing and I loved the sound. I had to get one.

Eric, I thought the same thing in the late '90s. The community keeps getting better...

Post Re: The Stick Community
I definitely think so. I first heard the Stick probably over 10 years ago. I was a young child at the time, and I was of course totally fascinated with it. Now that I'm 18 though and I've become a musician, I've felt the calling in a very powerful way over the last couple months to get a Stick. Its strange because the Stick is almost more than a musical instrument. Its not just a guitar or a keyboard, its an entirely unique and strange instrument, and I only think it attracts people with a desire to explore and immerse themselves in the unknown. And I think because of that it also attracts a community of more musically inclined, intelligent people. Now that the Stick does seem to be becoming more popular, I think that community of creative people will inevitably get larger. But I think it will always remain mysterious, not just the instrument but the people who play it. Regardless, it is indeed a great time to be a Stick player.
