Post Re: New Tony Levin solo video
As far as an SB8 or NS, Tony's not a guy who tends to be up on all the options nor does he care to be. He gets his hands on what feels right and roles with it.

I did an opening set for him back in 2007 and I remember a conversation where I was basically bringing him up to speed on all of the models of Stick Emmett was currently selling. Somewhere in the middle of all that I had to pause and make a mental note of how surreal that was :-)

In the same conversation I was asking about what model of NS bass he was playing (I was in the market at the time) and he replied "I don't really know. I had a cello I really liked and asked Ned to make a bass that plays as nice as my cello."

I was thinking about a reverse stick bass in 5th. Like a lefty stick bass let's say...

I've also considered this idea several times. The problem is that you lose the feel of the low string in the middle of the board, which is a great feeling, and you end up having to play the lowest couple of strings with very bent up fingers. It doesn't feel "free".
