Yeap...I do have the same with my Godin nylon strings fretless.

funny - I never thought of it that way! And I just started playing a fretless bass that a friend let me borrow.

I noticed how much effort I was trying to put into getting the perfect "tune" when playing a note and discovered two things:

1. Actually not discovered, but told to me by my friend: when playing higher register notes, you "micro-vibrato" each note quickly while playing to "approximate" the note you are trying to play. It worked!

2. It really didn't matter if I hit the note "correctly" or not for a lot of playing, as it's a different style of playing and sounds that you can make with an "Infinite-Tonal Fretboard"..i.e the NO FRET Fret Board! sounded musically just fine.
