Hi Mate!
Keep those videos coming, I see you moving that left hand around without looking at the neck.
Should have some more info about the AusStick Seminar in the next 14 days, stay tuned.
Cheers
Bruce

Mr. Forsyth.

Why don't you just make like one of those free jazz nazis, fecken around with stupid noises.

Throw it up against the wall and see if it Sticks....pardon the pun. Though you may or may not want to post that, it might be good medicine. ? :?: Hey ,some of them get a gig at these "out there" festivals. If it's good enough for some....

I noticed that you changed (at the beginning of this video) the rythm Greg use to play (6/8) to a 4/4. Which is ok if you want to experiment something else. And then you came back to 6/8 but played a bit too fast. Try it with a slower motion and you'll get it. Nice job. The main point here...you have fun to practice...when can see it...

Really coming along; great job, man! As always it is very, very fun to watch these. You are making severe headway, keep on posting 'em!

The tricky part for me on this piece was how much hand movement there is in the bass part; that same sequence is used on the bass part throughout, and when the chords change it became really apparent to me how intrinsic position shifting is on the Stick. Secondary to that position shifting is a requirement for near instinctive awareness of your intervals diatonic to the overall key, and the chords being outlined. Then, of course is the groove. Gotta be really aware of time and the subdivision. It will come, keep on going! Don't be afraid to simplify things, and then rebuild around your simplified arrangement.

I personally found this tune to be quite a challenge, it taught me a lot (more) about what I didn't know, and gave me a bunch of ideas for things I needed to work on so that I could maybe get away from spending months on a single tune and get that learning curve pumped up a bit.

You should check out our own Kevin Chiasson's YouTube channel (I stole pretty much his whole Setlist! Haha) and David Tipton's YouTube channel (Kev stole pretty much all of his tunes haha)

Anyways, keep on rockin' man! You are awesome!

The one thing about you Australians, you know how to Perthitht. Pertheverance goes a long way on this instrument, especially when you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. In all seriousness, this is a project that will help you when you have those moments of "I've been working on this instrument for x long and I haven't learned s***". Well, then you can watch it and see how far you have come.

Thieving is my business, and business is good!

Good job Mr. Forsyth! Keep on truckin.
One thing you may want to work on in this particular piece.......when you play the first three notes of each chord in the left hand, try to play them as a chord instead of a staccato fashion. When you watch Greg play this, he lets that root, 5th, and 10th ring together before moving down to the rest of the notes. As well as what Alain said about the phrasing and timing......

Again dude, you're making good progress and are miles ahead of where I was at the two month point when I started.....

cheers,
kev

Please don't stop posting. I like seeing the progress and am happy you can laugh at yourself. We all laugh at ourselves or at least we should. Music should be fun and not serious ( unless its serious fun). You have the right attitude and will do well. Keep up the good work. And Guys watch out for that Kevin Fella. He steals a lot of stuff. lol Ill be stealing from him as well.
