Post Re: Stella by Starlight
Brett,
Wonderful performance and solos! Very Heartfelt and you make it look easy on a not so easy piece.

Populous- This happens to be one of Emmett's favorite songs, and he did an arrangement with chords and mapped out melody in his FreeHands book pgs. 68-69.
Also at Real Book Vol 1. 408.

I agree with Greg and Russell, you don't need the drums in fact even though to an untrained listener it seems like a jazz drummer is all over the place, the "bombs" need to be dropped in all the accented places and to build a section, not random which then sound like you are not together.

My take anymore, thanks to some real strong urging by my real musician friends Bill Ferchak and Mike Clancy, is to NOT use a drum machine live. I only use it for quick demos and for people who don't know the difference. Remember the Monty Python skit where people couldn't tell Whizzo butter from a dead crab :)

Great post Brett you just keep getting butter.... err. better!

Really awesome, Brett. As usual! No problems with the drums, it was great. I look forward to more! Thanks, man!

Really nice Brett. Love the smooth flow and tone, you make it look so easy!
The drums are 'meh', (spoken like a drummer lol!), IMHO they don't add anything to your exceptional playing.
Keep 'em coming!
