Post Current Good Lab Practices episode 1
Here's the first episode of my new series! This is a diving series to Stick Science, a collection of etudes written for solo tap guitar with the sheet music and tablature available in the video comments. I hope you enjoy it!

Hi Josh. Wonderful music, first off. Second, I really admire how selfless you seem in promoting the Chapman Stick and your music. I took a lesson from you at Brett Bottomley's NE seminar several years ago. You taught me some strumming technique, and index finger "plucking" of the bass string. But you also taught me that an old guy can learn much from a young guy. I will confess that sometimes I think even the most well known teachers of the Stick have no more to teach me (putting these lessons into practice is another story, we all need time to absorb and make it part of us!)...I know that is pride talking.

My feeling is that your "here it is, take it or leave it" attitude is what helped me across that bridge.

I don't know if I will ever sit down with a piece of your sheet music (I read music like a 1st grader reads the dictionary) but I am glad you are putting it out there. This is a series I will try hard to keep up to date on.

Mike

Really nice, Josh. Thanks.

(I should probably also say that I appreciate the standard sheet music.)

Thanks everyone!

Mike, I remember that lesson, that was a lot of fun! I hope you walked away with something useful. As for the promotion stuff, I gotta say it's not entirely selfless and I'm totally ok with that! A big part of these videos is the fact that I tend to do better studying things on my own and teaching myself, and these videos are a reflection of those efforts. Regardless, I always make these so that maybe someone else is able to watch my videos and glean a few things to try out on the the instrument.

I think the take-it-or-leave-it attitude is necessary. The tap guitar is such a huge puzzlebox of an instrument that anyone who spends enough time with it can come up with a fairly unique way of approaching it and still make it sound good. My videos just happen to be my approach, and I know without a doubt that will work for some people just as much as it won't work for others.

Anyway, don't be discouraged by my sheet music! I also included Stick Tablature for those who might not be as proficient at note reading!
