Post New Video - Al Stewart's "Denise At 16"
Hi again all,

This is a fairly obscure Al Stewart instrumental from his very first record and one of my favorite tunes by him. I've been playing this on acoustic guitar for some 20+ years now and it seemed like a perfect tune to arrange for Alto Stick. So ... one of my very few cover tunes.

Man, that was so beautiful! Excellent arrangement and smooth playing. Does your Alto have the Stickup? Awesome tone! Go Glenn!

Hi Glenn,

I really enjoyed this too! Great to see some Alto vids & nice hearing the contrast between your Stickup and Matt's EMGs.

Thanks,
Andy

Thanks all! The pickup on my instrument is indeed a Stickup. I've pretty much been sold on it ever since I reverted my Grand back to it. Truth be told though, it's the bass that really sells me which isn't quite as much of an issue on the Alto. I really like the sound of Matt's EMGs though. Hmmmmmm.

I wanted to add also ... if you get a chance to check out the original version of this tune, I highly recommomend you do so. It's off of Stewart's 1967 debut release "Bedsitter Images." That record is out of print but you can find the tune on at least one "collection" CD. Really spectacular piece and some virtuoso guitar playing. With all the hooplah over "Year of the Cat", his guitar playing always went very underrated.

Yes, the bass side tone of the Stickup really caught my ear on your Alto piece. It has more bounce and character than the EMG bass, but the melody on the ACTV2 is what sells me, because of that kind of bluesy "Strat in the neck position" kind of sound you get. A hybrid pickup, like the one you had on your Grand, might be cool on the Alto. But, then again, you might lose that unified feel.
