Layla- Take 1 Alto Stick
Good evening from the middle of the ocean. I've been working diligently among other things on one of Josh Goldbergs exercises but decided to have a one take crack at Layla tonight for some light relief.. By way of explanation , I normally also sing it live, but cant record that on the ship. The part just tapped on the bass side is where the chorus is sung, fun when people sing along , feel like I am actually getting somewhere. Little rough , recording light syndrome I suffer from , approximately how it should be anyway, though a bit brisk on the tempo. Thanks . B

I've got so say that Bruce is one major inspiration and one of the guys with the most beautiful tone I've heard on the stick. And one of the main reasons why I wish I could have an alto. Enviado do meu iPhone usando o Tapatalk

I swear he takes it another quarter tone further than I can ever get smoothly. And I recognize the sound of the/his alto immediately now. Good stuff, Bruce! Keep rocking it out! (and sharing! shares or the rocking didn't happen!)

Re: Layla- Take 1 Alto Stick
Wonderfully percussive! and also sparse with lots of feeling in parts. When arranging popular songs I am never sure what are the most important aspects of the song to include. If there is an iconic keyboard or guitar part underneath the melody and you can't quite work both in, which do you use and which do you dispose of? You chose very well which parts to communicate the idea to the listener.
