Post In the Hall of the Mountain King - Grieg
Happy eclipse day everyone! It's pretty dark out right now, so I figured I'd put something out that captures the feel of sneaking around in the dark. Here's a quick arrangement of Edvard Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" complete with tabs and a performance breakdown at http://www.patreon.com/jgoldbergmusic.

Enjoy!

That was great. Your mission now if you choose to accept it: Prokofiev's Dance of the Knights.

Since I just mentioned Grieg to Scott, I feel obliged to share.

This is a great start, and the ending is very nice. The middle is completely absent, which is perfectly understandable due to the difficult nature not for you but for students. The bass, oh the bass. In the A part, I missed it modulating from root-V in B to root-V in D for the one measure of D-triad arpeggio. Similarly in the B section, it modulates to D-A# for a half measure a couple times. As a former bassist, piano player and Grieg-lover (at least this song) this might be A-Grieg-ous. Back to the positives, I did like your technique for staccato and legato, as well as your tempo control.

I giggled with glee. That was great. Simple piece well done.

Josh, I may have forgotten perhaps the most important point of your effort here. In established instruments, a large body of sheet music and arrangements are available for people to strictly become players of an instrument. On the Stick, with the limited body of work, nearly every player becomes an arranger if not composer out of necessity. That you are transcribing arrangements helps move the instrument forward, and I don't see anyone else doing it to the volume that you are. Super-kudos.
