Gene and Josh just did a cool "FHF" episode where Josh shows y'all how to play this tune, so after watching it I went and tracked down a score (Mine's in E minor/Gmajor) and quite different I think. Maybe if I spent more time on these they might sound a bit better, but I honestly don't have time, so it ends up just being what it is... (However, my version once again raises the bar on terribleness! :D ) There's a couple of new things I'm trying to do when I read stuff down; adding a triad or a chord of some sort on the melody side, and I've moved up position-wise on the neck a bit - Some things to get used to, for sure. The RH just isn't as articulate as my left. Yet. :D

Anyways, Josh and Gene, thanks for the inspiration. I'd love to hear some other Stick guys take a swing at this one!

I'm particularly impressed by the two-hand rocking out. There's a lot going on in each hand and it truly sounds like Stick at its best: "What the hell? Is that a guitar AND a bass?" Nothing like listening to a classic like this one to get that the Stick is doing two people's work here. Impressive, Scott!

Hey Steve, thanks for checking out what I post, I created it really quickly. Something really funny about it is that it's really simple actually; I have about 8 accompaniment "methods" that I practice the shit out of, I work really hard at being able to swap them in and out at will... centred around creating the illusion of many things going on at once. The really hard stuff for me is having to knuckle down and actually learn a tune with a pre-defined bass line!

Josh posted a video of this a while back, and I thought that I should take a stab at it, but I never got around to it. Then Gene Perry posted that songlearn, video which I really enjoyed so I thought I should get off my butt and do it... I made sure, though that I put it together "my way" though! It was a lot of fun to do. And it's interesting to note that the tunes that seem to turn out the best are usually the simplest/easiest to start out with...

Thanks for the good word Scott, I appreciate you taking the time to share this. I enjoy getting time with Josh and hearing his approach on learning on the go. He's studied with Steve A and is very close to the Boston music scene, a fine musician and a good person.

Your commitment to learning new songs is inspiring. Inspiration is a rare and fleeting quality and you have it in buckets. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and your inspiration, it's a great way to start the day and the week.

I live for music, Gene. And I am a big fan of the Chapman Stick. Thanks for the kind words, it's much appreciated. I post here in an effort to see what others do in regards to learning how to play this crazy instrument. You guys all inspire me, so I think that it's only fitting that I reciprocate. :D

I really like it Jayesskerr. Do you have anything else similar to this?

Hey Pemberton, thanks for checking out my version of this tune! If you head on over to my Soundcloud page, there's about 30 or so quick covers I have done since mid July that are posted. Some are better than others, however!

I would keep in mind that what I do is bottom of the barrel, though. Real Stickists are out there, I am just a beginner.
