Hey everyone, I spent all weekend working and am now enjoying a day to myself. I even managed to write some lyrics that I'm pretty happy with, which is something I've struggled with for quite a while. So, in celebration of trying to find my voice, here's an instructional video on how to add a third musical voice to your Stick playing. To polyphony and beyond!

The Stick, is it a singularity, is it a duality or does it unravel into multiplicity. As in a marriage, when you have two complimentary opposites, a third entity is likely to emerge.

I call my "3rd voice" an extra melody output (from Patch of Shardes) that leads to a very musical reverb, then to Big Sky. It used to be a MIDI output in the '90s. Whatever electronic boxes employed, I select specific melody notes and sustain them, transposing them into two higher notes, then listen to them while I play over the top, instantly cancelling the 3rd voice harmony and starting a new key center at will (my thing).

Now comes Josh with his own "3rd voice" concept and it's not dependent on effects at all. It's strictly musical in all his variations - an authentic "theory" lesson put into practice on his instrument of choice, but transcending instruments.

Yeah, he's ready to lecture at Berklee in Boston. He's young though and might still need some certificates to frame.

WOW guys thank you so much for your kind words! I've never really considered the classroom professor approach but that would certainly be interesting!

Josh, you could easily release a 'Stick Training' DVD.

I collect YouTube videos and edit all of the fluff out of them.
When I start to learn a new tune, I also cut snippets out of videos
and learn a small 'chunk' of the tune at a time, then piece it together later.

I've had a similar thing in mind. I'll be putting it together for the new year I think.
