Post Stick Tune - Smells Like Teen Spirit
My version, now that I've gotten a little bit better at playing the Stick... It's a sight-read version, and kind of made up on the fly for fun. Some guitar player type things I just abandoned entirely (strumming) 'cause I don't like it in my version... Might as well tap I guess! :D Anyways, I hope you enjoy it. Thanks in advance for checking it out!

My favourite version though...

Nice work! How'd you get the flam-y sound at the turnaround riff at 1:17?

lol it is pretty cheap; I have been working the crap out of my power chord stuff, it's basically a
sequence that goes R-5r-R-5r-R type thing, (Doo-Gah doogadoo) I've use it to death for years when I play bass, so I stole it from myself... I thank my new metronome! :D

Thanks for checking it out

Yeah man, it would crack me up if we turned SLTS into a stick classic

Dude, your version is quite deadly; I tried to do something similar but I'm just not there yet. I instead just kind of leveraged what I have been doing in the context of this tune. Mine is a bit rough, but it's all right for what it is. Quick and dirty, making use of the tools at my disposal...

Yeah, I am thinking that this one IS a new standard; you should talk to Gene about doing a "songlearn" or FHF on it... lol stat

Thanks, don't discount the version you just did, it's pretty slick. I'd love to see a polished video from you on it.

I actually had wanted to do SLTS on my last FHF but I hadn't practiced it in some time and didn't feel like I had it up to snuff to teach.

haha I am kind of thinking that I'll save doing too many covers on youtube, and reserve videos for my original stuff, or stuff that nobody has really done before. Y'know, in the spirit of variety...

I am really looking forward to the next Stick gathering; I feel like I will finally be ready to learn and assimilate the material very quickly. Plus, I will be able to jam! wooo!

Yeah I can understand that. I figure, for me at least, the good thing about Stick covers on YT is that there just aren't that many of them out there. Corner the market while it's small kind of thing.

Edit: Also I think if I'm going to be offering my arrangements as some sort of curriculum, it's important to show myself performing them.

Yeah man, I'm sure you'll have a blast!

Yeah, I have nothing to prove. I taught guitar at a college for, like a decade while gigging my face off... While I like to share ideas, I think that someone else can be "the" teacher... heh I like teaching myself and seeing what other people are up to, swiping and mutating their ideas. That's the whole reason I am on Stickist...

As far as video covers go, I don't have time to rip SLTS again (I did a video of it quite some time ago, not sure if I even still have it...), but I think that this one down below is a lot harder to play than 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', and I did it last spring... lol A video of me sight-reading Nirvana might be boring :D

Nice work, i can see the left hand parts for that song being pretty difficult in 5ths tuning.

Yeah you're basically describing my life now, teaching and gigging a lot. I hope i don't wind up as "the" Stick teacher though, just one of many as the instrument grows. Maybe you'll decide to be one of them too one day!
