Dragons gather together to fiercely groove on their Fire Flowers of Funk, and play the MiStick Dragon Scales. Done with Chapman Stick (10-string, Rosewood) and Electric Piano, both clean and distorted, and electronic instruments.

Cheers!

I really liked this, I thought it really achieved pretty much a perfect balance all around musically speaking! Very well done I thought!

Thanks, guys! I ended up adding another couple of Stick layers, just because I was jamming to it with my NS and thought up some more lines. So I switched back to Rosie, and it was a heck of a lot easier to play the riff with the wider frets and thinner strings. Loaded up a new version of Pro Tools and rocked it out. Another 20 minutes of Stick lines to sort through and not use.

So, even more Sticky. Maybe a bit too busy. [Pruned a tiny bit here and there.] Okay. That'll do. I could keep playing with this all day and end up with 47 different versions. The version in my head had the arpeggios follow through all those chords, but that became a busy, busy little beaver. So I kept the A minor arpeggios and dumped the rest. Less is more, or something.

I'm supposed to be working on vocals. So I spend 30 hours working on this song instead! Steve's Law of Procrastination: "It Ain't Cheatin' If You Still Have a Thing That Rocks When It's Done."

Thanks, Gene! Always looking for that sound and style. I feel like I'm starting to sound like the "me" in my head--but with lots more hair. The me inside, that is, rather than the receding hairline-me.

And as for finding that sound, that's why I'm a DI'er, direct-to-the-DAW, guy. Better to play with everything after you get some notes down, or I'll never get any notes down. But if I had better hardware on the amp side, I'd build my tone there like when I was a wee lad. Now it's all electrons and algorithms and digital dials that go to 11. (Million.)

Speaking of getting notes down, the very last note, and the decay of the note before it, bugged the heck out of me. I think maybe a finger slipped JUUUUUST off the fret and made an unintended buzz. So I deleted it and replaced it with a note an octave up. End with the High A or the Low A? I went high.

I replaced the Soundcloud file with the new version, but I'm already uploading a fractal video that used the older version. I'll share the fractal video in a few hours. Cheers!

Meanwhile, I uploaded the tune to Icompositions.com, where I haven't been a good member by listening to other's people stuff and commenting. Only so many hours in the day, but if you want feedback, you have to give feedback.

That was amazing Steve. Loved the tune and all the hard work you put into it. Loving the videos as always. They all rock out great.
