Post Groove - Messing with the 16th
This week's video is about a few ways to look at incorporating 16th notes into your playing. 16th notes and how you place them can provide a lot of cool rhythmic dissonance and really funk up a lick, bassline or groove. A solid understanding of their use is an essential part attaining more advanced levels as a musician. As always, exercises and more are available at http://www.patreon.com/jgoldbergmusic.

Very enjoyable and interesting discussion about 16th notes. I particularly got groups of 3,4, and 5 over the quarter notes until the pattern resets.

Both of your funky examples were great riffs, the Jackson 5 and the Commodores. And then the Geph riff was great as well, "Whole Body Head Bang."

Thanks for sharing this great exercise and treatise on 16th notes, Josh! Good stuff.

Thanks - very interesting approach and also a good way to break the tendency for both hands to lock together.
