Some Progressive Neoclassical fun!

Okay, this one is another guitar shred fest (That's what I do!) - but the Stick is in there - It's all I use for my bass line. I've kind of settled on a much less squishy sound for the Stick and am actually playing it a lot more agin. I don't know, I might have burned myself out trying to learn the darned thing. All good because if nothing else, it plays an integral collaborative role in what I create with sort of crazy rock stuff in mind... The name of the game is fun! And when I was on holidays I was reading a bunch of Lovecraft like I always do hahaha

The Stick parts are pretty simple, but there is a couple of ascending/descending 4's runs that are kind of a nightmare on a regular bass, not to mention I can't get that low C on my 4 string. This was the Grand (bass side mostly) but I have it tuned to Classic at the moment. The 5ths tuning just happens to work out for what I am doing right now with my music sketches.

So yeah, C Harmonic Minor over G - that intro bit is a sequenced C min/maj7 arpeggio added to a C Harmonic minor scale bit over G-Ab-Fm I guess the common guitarist lingo for that mode of Harmonic Minor is G Phrygian Dominant (Our school called it Mixolydian b9b13) Whatever, it's cool. Been listening to a lot of Dimeola lately (YEAH!!! Race With Devil On Spanish Highways...) And of course the Malmsteen Macalpine Moore thing is a lot of fun.

Anyways, it was lots of fun to create and just because the Stick parts aren't in the spotlight doesn't mean they aren't important to the tune, right? Have a good one guys.

WOW!! this was great... What I really liked is the headroom sound of the drums. that was an excellent recording! And of course.... your playing as well!

Kick ass! Nice rocking riffs, smoking leads, soaring melodies, crunchy harmonies, and a cool cover art piece. That bass sound is tight and adds to the whole thing, rather than taking away anything. This tune's got it all. Including a big finish! (Yay!) Extremely kick ass. Well done!

Hey everyone; thanks for taking a moment to listen and comment - even though the genre may not be your cup of tea. I promise to let the Stick become a bit more prominent as I get more comfortable with how it moves with the rest of the instrumentation!

But you can rip that stuff up on the Chapman Stick.
I know you said you disagree but, if you take a different approach, it is more than possible.
"Four fingers four frets". I never heard that one on the guitar before, but I don't know much about anyting. I always thought, four fingers how many frets can I grab. Pinky is the big stretch. You also have notes on the bass side, that you can work with your other hand, if you split up the scale and use two hands. Al the notes you are playing are available, they may not sound the same because it's not a guitar, but someone like you, should be able to rip that shit up man.

I think you need an Alto Stick or an SG12.

Well, sounds like a challenge to me - wanna try one of my licks and see if you can play it faster via taps? Could be a fun experiment. Betcha can’t...

I'll bet you I can't play the stick like you play the guitar. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying you could be an awesome stick player, and better than any guitar player, if you want to be

Just saying that the alto stick has more of a guitar range.
You mentioned that your are using the stick for bass.
Maybe the alto stick would work more with your ideas, if you were interested in tapping, in more of a guitar range.
