Great visual and auditory work there Steve.
Thanks, Rob! I'd been meaning to capture more music recording with video forever, but it's a pain in the butt getting everything setup and recorded. I learned a lot on this one though, and I definitely plan to do this kind of thing again soon.

It "feels" like "Metropolis" and "Blade Runner". My two favorite "atmospheres" in movies...
I have a texture map that has neon signs and also graffiti, and lots of Chinese kanji and Japanese writings, that Julius Horsthuis made, and I've used it before. I added extra grunge to the map. It really takes this scene to a Bladerunner look, but I've done that before.
But for this one, I went with a different look altogether. I actually rendered out two completely different versions of the same exact movie in HD size, and then combined them together, for a cool blended look. It had more wires and brown brick. But when I went to 4K size, it took almost a week, so I went with yet a third texture, that didn't look like the other two, that would have to stand on its own.
Shapes come first in the process. Then choosing the colors and lighting, and whether to use procedural coloring generated by math and the shape of the fractal, or else use a color map or image file for the coloring, or blend the two. And I'm actually running a separate 4K layer of just red/blue/and green, and then isolating out one color and using that to generate a glowing layer that is then laid back on top of the first layer. It's a cool, complicated process and technique that I'm still developing and refining. But it has a lot of potential, and lots me combine different coloring patterns together.
And thanks, guys! I appreciate hearing what you all thought.
