Post Bag man, by paul motian. with arrangement for matched recip.
i posted this a while back. but i have made a basic arrangement for matched reciprocal ( or stick in general if you ignore the fret hints), so i figured i 'd repost it with the sheet music. not too hard but it has an interesting vibe that's fun to play and improvise on a bit. i'm not sure if anyone has actually played it besides me and the paul motian trio. ( w/ bill frisell and joe lovano)

When I listen to you play Michael, I sometimes feel that you are the only person in the universe that understands how I feel.

Really, really nice, Mike.

Not familiar with this tune, but it sure tickled my ear as echoing a bit another Bill Frisell piece, "Rambler". Just mentioned the version below to my drum teacher the other day, hoping he and I can work on a transcription to the drum part (reminds me of Steve Gadd and his iconic drum work on "50 ways to leave your lover").

I love this album and this track in particular (the only Frisell recordings I have in my collection outside of a random track of him covering "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry"!)

Anyway, this might be a good one to adapt to the Stick too...

Bill is a gold mine of music that works great on the stick as he has a affinity to an open style of voicing that works well on the stick . I have handful of Bill tunes I’ve posted in the past. As far as rambler... great minds thing alike. :) Rambler is a tune I play on occasion, here’s a brief , Teflon ( it is free hands though ) version on my acoustic

I would recommend bills sheet music book “anthology” pretty much everything on it is easily adaptable to the stick and most tunes have versions on YouTube you can reference

Here's a rough lead sheet that i made for rambler BTW. one of these days i'll fix it up with matched reciprocal fret positions , chord voicings in the bass clef, etc..

That's really nice, Mike. I'm not sure I'm ever going to be good enough to try my hand at playing this kind of composition (still haven't even touched a Stick yet) but fun to think about, and who knows...maybe I'll surprise myself. Lots to learn...
