Post Video - Piano, Electric Upright and Stick
Sometimes you just need to play more than one instrument.

Thanks to Ableton Live here's piano, bass violin and the Stick in one seamless, unedited live performance.

Enjoy!

Kevin

Very nice. Not easy to play the bow on your upright bass. I play a bit of cello and I know you can be out of pitch easlly. You're a groove master...congrats.

Aw you kill me. Tony Levin pushed me over the Edge to get a Stick, but you kill me.

Excellent timing. Beautiful sound.if you’re going to woodshed you might as well do it with a production of art and creativity.

Nice, Kevin. I really dig the bass side filter tone.

Amazing work, Kevin! I really like the live recording/sequencing aspect, as it's something I've been working on as well. Are you using ClyphX Pro in Live for this?

Thanks to everyone for watching! I'll address the replies to this thread:

Agreed. When I first entered college after high school I was majoring in classical music performance on upright bass but I left college two years later. A couple of years ago I entered a music store to buy guitar strings and walked out with the electric upright that's in this video. I say all that to say.. I haven't played upright in decades and i'm really rusty! Orchestral instruments are difficult to play but so worth the effort.

Thank you so much! I never thought I would live long enough to see tech get to where it was 10 years ago let alone where it is now. I'm completely in the box (Mac) and I actually made a drawing of the hardware equivalent of my setup. It was three tall rack cases and 4 guitar amps. Can't carry that on a plane! This is an incredible time to be an electronic musician.

Thank you very much! Tony still kills me, Lol! His playing and body of work is both inspiring and humbling.

Thanks Greg! The EMG's are so pure and powerful and they drive effects so well. 99% of my effects are custom creations. The bass sound on this video is not layered with a synth, it's all Stick going thru VST's in real time. When you can't find the effect you want you have to create it! I love that process.

Thanks a lot! Honestly I'm still on Ableton 10 with a Push 2 and an APC controller. The feature set is so huge that I haven't had to look any further to achieve what I want.

Thanks again to everyone for watching. If there's interest I'll do a video on my Ableton rig.
Be well and play music!

Kevin
