Well, tonight I gave it another go and really focused on not getting tense preceding my turn. I did a little better but my hands were still shaking big-time the whole time. At least I felt mentally more clear and I really only lost my place once this time.

I am going to try to find one of these every week or so. Sounds like that might be possible. I think I should be able to get to the place where I can play before an audience just as well as at home.

Most all these folks are playing their own original songs in the two events I have gone to so far and are quite uninhibited and free in their playing. Hopefully I will pick some of that up by osmosis.

Maybe starting off with a spontaneous improv (a minute or two) you know, just the "loosening up" we sometimes do before serious practice or tuning up (obviously here, you've done that), then going, ahem, "Now I'd like to...Could work for both you and the audience.
