Rob's Differential from Stick Night NYC
This is the first of several videos to come from the concert.
Some of the players (like me) weren't on camera very well, so we'll see how many are usable.

Thanks for the music, Rob!

Do you recall if there was a performance of yours you were particularly fond of?

Re: Rob's Differential from Stick Night NYC
Thanks very much to everyone, especially Greg for putting this all together - both the video and the show itself, dealing with all the logistics of planning, setup, driving me and Eleanor, etc. It was a really fun experience. The show was recorded with an external mic setup, for a slightly different(ial) sonic perspective here is the same piece from a direct line during rehearsal before the show: http://soundcloud.com/rob-martino/diffe ... -2012-live

"Differential" is a favorite of mine, Rob - when I first found it on YouTube, I listened to it about five times through, then went straight to iTunes to buy the album. Seeing you perform it live in NYC was a real kick for me, and I enjoyed how the distortion gave it a whole new (and slightly darker) texture.

Re: Rob's Differential from Stick Night NYC
We heard it live at Genghis Cohen's in Hollywood with that crackin' low E and those "rangy" chord progressions - wiry, very Stick like, and with sweet melodic passages too.
This time, especially on the mp3, there are even more dynamics from Rob's fingers, and growl from his effects, plus that snap at the low E (lotta money there). Marvelous song and spirit of rendition!
I wonder, Rob, if you'll compose a song that would stretch your mercurial flow of shifting chords within your broad modal network, taking it even further along the circle of 5ths? (Taking it "outside" in both sharp and flat directions but within your somewhat Celtic modal frame.)
Best, Emmett.

Re: Rob's Differential from Stick Night NYC
Sorry, but there may not be many more from this concert.
I had some good audio on my tunes, but the cameras got bumped so I'm basically off-screen, bad sound for Michael and Steve, mainly due to amp placement and v-drums, Alex off-camera for the most part, so if there's more it will be from Brett's set.
The venue was great for listening, in spite of the heat, but impossible to video in, at least without assistance.
I may still post my audio somethwere just for fun.
Next time, camera crew!
