Hi everyone, here's a live track from our CD release gig back in September.

Hope you like it.

Thanks, jazz Kat.

Though I will be the last to claim that I am a "jazz musician", my knowledge of forms, harmony, licks and vocabulary is sorely limited, I love the juxtaposition of the "primitive" aggressive chords and rhythm, with John's jazz phrasing and lines, and especially the "Wizard of Oz" moment in the video.

There is something about the openness of The Stick's sound that makes these more abstract kinds of things musically intelligible, though don't ask me what's going on harmonically, I couldn't tell you.

Wow! Do any musicians on the planet have as much fun as you guys do? Creativity, ability, cooperation, humor, tension, patience all appear to be part of each of your 'compositions'. And to top it off you have a fairly receptive audience to play them to. This could be a soundtrack to a troupe of improvising acrobats! Although it might be more interesting to actually try to choreograph something to an existing recording.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Mike

My mind about jazz is not only Charlie Parker's era and his bebop. There is some indian music (India) for example where there is only one chord at the progression but with multiple ramifications. As soon as I can hear improvisation, in my opinion, we are talking about jazz.
