If you know Eivind Aarset, he sometimes gets a similar sound on his guitar. Eivind likes to play through a dynamic filter when Ebowing fretless guitar. He uses no resonance on the filter, just cutting lows and highs to narrow the sound into a clarinet-like timbre.
