This is really great; this guy has rhythm
. I have messed around with these instruments, the
stand-up and the Cello and have been intrigued but never 'sold'. It would be great to "thump"
but one must draw the line somewhere, right?
Until I found this:

Or what, madness ?

Notice the "Viola Da Gamba" has frets, gut frets (because you need
guts to try it
).
"Da Gamba" means 'of the leg' (so you play seated). Also more important for the intrepid Stikist; it has between five and seven strings, not just four, and is a relative of the guitar; that is, if you came from guitar or bass. So chord shapes and fingering are somewhat familiar. But the cool thing of course is the bow.
"No Looper necessary"? The looping effect stands for "just imagine". So 'just imagine' this
wonderful bass and rythm played into a looping machine and then the dude whip's out
his bow and glides a beautiful resonate melody over the top. No looper necessary?
IMHO it's crucial because it adds a dimension that cannot be achieved any other way.
Adam Ben Esra is really good
and he loops:
