Daniel Cover
Hi friends.
Here's an Elton cover I've been working on. Apologies in advance for the icky sound quality, iphone recording..... I had raised the solo section an octave but it sounded a bit thin.....so I took it back down. Anyways.....

Re: Daniel Cover
Good goin Kev, sounds great!! I'll make sure to forward it to my Elton John fan friends.
Is there any reason you're preferring the rosewood vs graphite?

Re: Daniel Cover
That...was awesome. You can apologize for the sound quality if you want to, but I assure you it comes across pretty clearly (it must be fantastic in the room with you). That was some fine playing - very consistent, very clear, solid tempo...I like the little harmony touch you put in the chorus melody. That's just a really good arrangement. Excellent, Kevin!!

Re: Daniel Cover
Really nice one Kev, excellent arrangment and well played. If it sounds that good recording it to an IPhone I'd love to hear it over your usual sound system. You seem a lot more relaxed in your playing posture now as well, is that due to the Stick stand?
Cheers, Eric

Re: Daniel Cover
Thanks guys, Andy, the rosewood just sounds better to me, and its new so the setup is most likely bang on. Eric, I raised the stick an inch or two and I'm "trying" to flatten out my right hand a bit.......i think it may be helping. (lesson from Greg)
I am really digging this taggart stand though. Taking some getting used to. Painted it black......just to make it look more evil.....
cheers, kev

Re: Daniel Cover
Kevin, really excellent!
This arrangement really does this beautiful song justice, and I love all the hammer ons -6ths and triplet pull offs ie around :045-:049. You also, subconsciously (?) added a very stylistic Elton John signature device that sets his writing apart around the same section. Your version is so true with all the little parts that make up our collective memory of it that you can sing along easily and even hear the lyrics in your head.
Your playing has advanced by leaps and bounds. You now have greater ease with the melody, increased assurance in your performance, and are producing songs which are very professional and listenable.
Great Great Job, Dave B
