It's always a risk, playing a tune like this. You wonder if people will want to hear it AGAIN, and what you can bring to it. Asked to provide music for my recently departed Aunt's memorial, it seemed like a good selection, and it's a tune I've never arranged before so it presented a nice manageable challenge. The chaplain suggested it before I could, so it seemed destined to be. I set to it, trying to come up with some chords that made it more interesting to my ear, and I liked how it turned out enough to want to make a video. Awww, that was terrific, Greg. I truly never get tired of that tune. I had an arrangement on bass guitar at one time. I should try to figure it out on Stick. Thanks for posting this! |

That is beautiful, Greg. You have both my thanks for this video and my condolences for how it came to exist. On a related note, which I hope you will not mind, I have shared your video of Dedication—too many times in the last few months—with friends who were grieving their fathers. Words cannot express how close to perfect that song is, which is perhaps appropriate in light of its inspiration and lack of lyrics. |

Thank you Tatsu, Rob and Jonathan, Rob, I also played "Dedication" at the service. I'm glad you find the music moving. I've always found I could say more without words than all of my words ever could. |

Your arrangements are always fantastic, Greg. I hope we can dig into song arrangement as a group at the next Vancouver seminar. Perhaps even do one from the ground up, as an exercise? Something simple, a song everybody knows. |
