Re: Elisabeth Cutler, Polishing Stones
Thank you all very much for the kind words!
when it comes to the arrangements, I must admit that all credit goes to Filippo de Laura, who arranged and produced the CD Polishing Stones (available on iTunes, btw). I played his Stick lines pretty much verbatim at the show, I took many more liberties for the bass tunes: I chose to use fretless bass, instead of the fretted that was on the record and varied the lines slightly.
It was very interesting to learn the Stick lines of another player, with a very different style from mine: Fil is originally a drummer, though he will play any instrument you trow at him, and his lines are for the most part on the bass side and very, very rhythmic. Just getting the feel right was a great learning experience.
It was probably one of the most intense experiences I've been exposed too musically, since I only had ten days to prepare 14 songs, 4 of which on Stick! Then travel, rehearse two times and then right on stage... some songs we rehearsed once at soundcheck. I'd love to say it went without hiccups, but I had one big technical issue with my pedalboard, that halted everything for a few minutes, and messed up the intro to one of the songs.
Tankfully none of that is in the video
Still it was a very nice experience and it was great to play with really great musicians and people. I hope we'lll get a chance to play together again, this time with a little more time to learn the material!
