Here's a video featuring yours truly playing a graphite Grand :)

It was filmed in a beautiful room in Ariccia, near Rome. Eisabeth is a wonderful singer/songwriter from Boston, living in Italy.
She put together a band to launch her new CD, Polishing Stones, and we played a concert and recorded two videos. It was a very nice experience and a good challenge: I had to learn 14 songs in ten days, 5 of which on Stick, the rest on fretless bass!

The stick part in the video is not originally played by me though: that line was written and recorded by my friend Filippo De Laura, a wonderful multi-instrumentalist who also plays the Stick very well!
He's living between Rome and New York: if you're in NY you should really get in touch with him, he's such a great musician!!! wonderful on percussion, drums, guitars, Stick, vocals and a lot of weird instruments... and the sweetest guy you'll ever meet too! He's new in town, would be very happy to get in touch with "the locals"

Francesco, this video just goes to prove what a wonderful instrument we all play - this sounds perfect in an acoustic setting.
A friend of mine is putting together a band to do some acoustic based music and has asked me to play bass for him - after seeing this I'm taking my Stick along instead, it's going to fit in just fine, maybe I'll show him the song to prove it!

Regards,

-Marc-

Couldn't agree more! It seems like a paradox, but the Stick sounds very "acoustic".
I've played it a lot in this kind of settings, it's a great match to acoustic guitars, pianos and vocals (I've done quite a few duets with stick and voice).
Personally I find it works better in an acoustic setting then in the classic prog-rock format, but that's just me ;)

Very nice!
But there's too much guitars and not enough Stick in the Video! ;-)

Congrats for that video, hope you'll all get some recognition with that project, you deserve it!

Great playing man! Everything really blends together nicely in this tune.

Strange frets on Matts Hedberg's guitar...never seen that before. Beautiful music

At first, it looked like a microtonal guitar, but I think it should be a kind of Feiten system to simply have a perfect intonation on eahc string.

Mats guitar uses the True Temperament fret system: it is true to the natural intervals and makes the guitar sound more in tune
here's a link: http://www.truetemperament.com/

I just received a video with an interview with Elisabeth and some excerpts from the concert in Ariccia: the first live song is with the Stick, and this time it's me playing! The rest of the songs are all fretless bass. Hope you enjoy it!
