This was always one of my favorite tunes of yours.

Way back when, the second tune I ever played on Stick with Coup Detroit was a tune called "Open The Door" and the part I played was inspired by this tune.

Beautiful Greg. I shared the video you put in Facebook so my non-stick savvy friends and fellow musicians can be introduced to SOLO Stick playing. Most who have seen the Stick have only seen Tony Levin playing mainly bass lines in KC. For them this will be very eye opening.

Listening now. Hopeful, sad, energetic, playful. It's ALL there in the way you play this tune.

Really inspiring Greg.

Hi everyone,

I'm going to try to make sure that there are videos of all the pieces in the Songbook for those of you who are learning them.

Here's one I've always been meaning to record a video for, Sangre de Cristo, from Sol. It's one of the easier tuns from the book, and has lots of string-bending and harmonics, among other fun things. Enjoy!

Wonderful tune! I shared it on my Facebook page so that I could "get the word out" about your music, Greg.

I need to grab your songbook and see how my playing is really going......and when to pick up lessons, finally.

Chris

Really enjoyed this. The video is also a great reminder that I need to play it slower! I think I figured out a way to play that pesky harmonic on the melody side.

You don’t have many more videos to go for the songbook tunes, looking forward to Quince Street. :D

Thank you all for the kind comments. Glenn, I don't think you ever told me that story. Where can I hear a recording of this tune of yours?

Dan, much appreciated, intensity...heat...serenity, these mountains got their name for a reason.
As an aside, I just got a new display and worked hard to match the color on the shots. How'd I do? (please be brutally candid).

Chris and Ray.. what can I say?.. sharing the music is the best compliment there is...

and Claire... true disclosure with a point: this video is two different takes spliced right before the solo begins, they were recorded some time apart during the session, but the tempo didn't change (luckily). Once you find a "pocket" that the tune can really lay in, then it's much easier to focus on the expression and ornamentation. For this tune making sure to give full consideration to the rhythm and intensity of all the hammer-on/pull-off notes is the thing I need to pay attention to the most when performing it.

The 16th notes below are what I'm talking about. Making sure they aren't just "grace notes" for what follows.

Awesome, Greg! My mind wants to thank you, but it exploded while watching you play this. Then I started watching the other vids, and what was left exploded. Very inspiring, man!
Thank you Scott. It's a fun piece to play. Try it out... 8-)
