It's an interesting point Walter,
I've opened up for all kinds of acts, from very well-known jazz musicians like John McLaughlin, folkies like Richie Havens, prog bands like Porcupine Tree and other solo instrumentalists like Michael Manring.
It's been rare that I opened up for a more conventional pop act or really traditional jazz act. In those cases, I don't thinkthe audience is as "into it."
It seems like it's better to be similar in tone, but not too similar in tunes, so this might be a nice fit. Anyway, I dig his music, which is a lot better than opening for someone you don't like.
