Re: Jimbo and his warm guitar
I hate this narrator guy with a passion that is verging on holy. I'm not the biggest Jimbo fan or Warr Guitar fan, but he's obviously got talent, and I can see the potential to mock him on his style. I felt the narrator was more mocking than appreciative, the way you'd make fun of a ridiculous new bug that just popped up on the windshield. "Looks at that Mad Max guitar!" But I liked Mad Max and the guitar in it!
I'm quite positive this guy would find plenty of my stuff easily mockable, which is why I'm cringing so hard watching him make fun of the tapped arpeggios. And I do admit that there is a lot about this tune that is just random two-handed tap wanking, but I love a good two-handed tap wanking. I do admit that Jimbo is just throwing out random little bits--really awesome bits but somewhat random. I give him an A-/B+ on execution and maybe a C on the tune writing, but I would never, ever mock this guy for what he's trying to do. And I've seen this video several times before--not with the snarky narration, however--and I remember feeling both impressed by Jimbo and thinking that the audience and judges would have been impressed as well. And that I preferred a Stick to a Warr.
But still, something like this would maybe flatter me a tiny bit that someone thought I was good enough to mock, but that would quickly fade, to be replaced with a shuddering dread to have someone turn their 11-year-old YouTube commenting skills upon me and my creative attempts.
