I watched the YouTiube video of you playing and it was really nice. I like the sound and look of that thing you've made there. I haven't seen all the build notes yet and I'm going to check that out. Thanks for sharing your new instrument and song, Russell!

Thanks Gene for the over the top compliments :)

I've had quite the musical journey thanks to Emmett. It started back in 1984 when I bought my first Stick and it has taken me in directions I never would have thought of ... and it certainly isn't over yet. Looking forward to what will come.

Your work looks very impressive. Which EMG 8 string pickup do you use on your tapping instrument build? Is there a best choice for the melody side if it drives down in fourths to string 7 and 8?

Thanks. I am not using EMG 8 string pickups. I am using EMG bass soapbar pickups from the 40 series. These are marketed as 5 string pickups, but because they have bars instead of pole pieces, they can be used with any number of strings that fit within the magnetic field of the pickup.

I have used 40TX and 40TWX in previous builds. This one has a 40DC in the neck position and a 40JCSX in the bridge position.

I don't understand your question about the melody side. Are you asking about pickups based on tuning? I would use the same pickups regardless of tuning. These pickups are not stereo so there is not separate melody and bass side.

Your explanation on the "soap bar" pickup and the fact they are bass pickups actually answered the question I had concerning the "melody side''. Thank you for the response!!
