Post It Might Get Loud
New film coming out featuring Jimmy Page, The Edge, and Jack White from the guy who did "An Inconvenient Truth":

Looks like a good film, based on just making music, what guitars and effects they use and not the usual fluff you see about rock bands. He also gets all three of these guys together to play. Supposedly this film is a first with Jimmy Page, who has never really let anyone interview him this much in depth on camera.

To be honest, I never heard of fellow Detroiter Jack White until I saw this feature on CNN the other night. I've heard of "White Stripes" but I'm not that familiar with their music. I just checked out some of his Youtube solos, he definitely has a unique style.

I'm sure this film will kindle millions of arguments worldwide about who the major "Guitar Icons" really are

I saw this film last week, it's out now on DVD. I enjoyed it. Showed some of the real early days of Jimmy Page when he played "Skiffel Music", as shown in another thread on this forum, plus scenes/pics from his days as a studio musician from real young. They don't show much about Page's gear, more gear-related dicussions are done with the Edge and Jack White. Never realized just how many effects Edge uses, with an equally huge controller board to manage all of that. Jack White has some cool guitar mods.

To me the most disturbing part of the film was when Jack White said that when he grew up in Detroit, playing guitar was NOT cool. Everyone of his classmates were into hip-hop and rap.

Worth checking out.

Just saw this recently. It was really great to see Jimmy Page and some of his history. Afterwards, ordered "The Song Remains the Same" DVD from Amazon, got the 2 disc collectors edition for ~$20.

Watched TSRTS a few nights ago and that was truly wonderful. Last time I saw this was over 30 yrs ago; music is such a time machine. The dream sequences were goofy since we're so use to today's film style/effects, but the concert footage was awesome. Looking forward to watching the 'extras' DVD and seeing what's on that.
